What data will be collected from the Avira EU-Cleaner?

The Avaira EU-Cleaner collects and processes data only in connection with updates. Updates will be used for the purpose in effectively freeing your computer of threats and to keep the product itself up-to-date. By implementing updates, the Avira EU-Cleaner connects with the update server at Avira Operations GmbH & Co. KG. This way the Avira EU-Cleaner will always be up-to-date and will be able to free your computer from the latest threats. With this update method, the so-called UAS (User Agent String) including the ip-address from your computer will only be transferred, and saved in the weblog on Avira’s update server.

The UAS includes standardized information on the following technical system values:

- Information, that it is dealing with the Avira EU-Cleanerr

- The product language
- The unique serial number, which is randomly generated whilst being copied

Further data will not be collected nor processed.

The collected data will be anonymous and used exclusively for creating statistics. The statistical information serves mainly for improvement and further devolvement of the Avira EU-Cleaner.

Which data will otherwise be collected and transferred?

By using the Avira EU-Cleaner you can send the scan results in form of a report to the Anti-Botnet Advisory Centre. The report serves solely for product improvement and will only be used for statistically purposes. Sending the report is absolutely voluntary. You will be asked after every scan whether you want to send the report or not. You can view the contents of the report before it is sent. The contents of the report will be encrypted and anonymised (no personal data will be transferred). The transfer itself will be via an encrypted connection.

DE-Cleaner System Rescue DVD

In certain circumstances, it may be that your computer is so severely infected that an anti-virus update is no longer possible, or infected files cannot be deleted. In this case, the DE-Cleaner System Rescue DVD should be used. The DVD is able to remove malicious files from your system where conventional methods have failed.

Important Advice:

  • To prevent any problems, please read and follow the instructions on DE-Cleaner System Rescue DVD before downloading and running.
  • Be sure to secure your personal data before you begin cleaning, i.e. graphics, documents, or videos.
  • You will need a blank DVD, a DVD burner and a DVD burning program. If you do not have a DVD burning program, please install a program which is able to burn DVD images (ISO), e.g. the freeware version CDBurnerXP.
  • Please note: Burn the System Rescue DVD in bootable ISO format (not a data CD!). Instructions for burning the DVD can be found at Instructions image burning.
  • Instructions for creating a bootable USB-Stick from within the windows environment can be found on our blog at Anti-Bot CD v3.5 goes USB.
  • So that your PC starts from the DVD drive and not from its hard drive, you may need to Change Boot Sequence in BIOS.
  • Once your computer has been checked by the System Rescue DVD, you should nonetheless scan your computer with an anti-virus product.
  • If your PC no longer starts after the removal of malicious files, we suggest a new installation.
